We gained our Hygge In The Early Years accreditation in 2022. 

Hygge is a Danish word, which means to feel warm, cosy, safe and comfortable.

Following the pandemic, we identified a need to support our staff, children, their families and the wider community with the feelings of worry, anxiety and concern that they were all feeling following the pandemic, and researched ways in which we could achieve this. We found that a lot of children hadn't been  socialising due to the pandemic, so therefore hadn't been able to access childcare, playgroups, visiting family and friends and taking part in social activities that they might have experienced pre-pandemic. When we discovered Hygge In The Early Years, we found this matched our ethos and reflected the needs of our setting and our local area. We all worked extremely hard to develop our skills, implement changes and adapt our setting to create a warm, comfortable and calming environment that would nurture and support our children and families as well as our staff.
