Our Pre-school is designed to suit the needs of children aged 3 years plus. We aim to provide a cosy, home from home environment, which promotes the well being of all the children who access it. We have lots of carefully designed areas, to support and prepare children for the next step of transitioning to primary school.

Our Pre-school room...

Cosy area - This area is designed in a similar fashion to the cosy area found in the toddler room. Within this area the children can get comfortable and cosy and look at a book, or simply just relax and rest, or have a sleep. We display lots of photos of our children during play to help promote conversations, social and emotional development and empathy skills. We have blankets available as well as a large range of different reading materials.

Home corner - This area has a very homely feel, and includes a range of resources that children will often come across within the home. Two arm chairs, a lamp, telephone and a selection of books complement this are, along with a large selection of dressing up clothes and materials, costume jewellery and a Moses basket.

Mark making area - This area is filled with a selection of mark making tools alongside a selection of paper, chalk boards, clipboards, notebooks, envelopes, post it notes and much more. Children must first develop their hand muscles before being able to hold and control a pen correctly. We use  variety of activities and exercises to encourage this development.

Play dough station - Children have the opportunity to make their own play dough everyday. Of course it doesn't always turn out as perfectly formed play dough, however the process of making it has so many benefits. The play dough station is set next to the role play kitchen so that the children can freely use the play dough within this area. Many of the children like to put their play dough creations in the 'oven' of the role play kitchen or do some cooking on the 'hob'.

Role play kitchen - This area is where lots of the magic happens. The children have access to real vegetables and dried food, that they often cut up, wash, place into pans and serve to their friends. The children are able to develop a wide range of skills and make good bonds with their peers and staff.

Within this room we also have the children's bathroom. We have low level toilets, including a disabled toilet, alongside low level sinks to allow children to be independent and develop personal hygiene skills. We have nappy changing facilities and access to potties for those that aren't quite ready to use the toilets.

We have an open door policy so you are welcome to come and have a look around our cosy setting at any time!
