Our Toddler room

We have two purpose built rooms within nursery. We have our Toddler room for children aged 2-3 years and our Pre-school for children aged 3 - school age. Both rooms are staffed with experienced and well trained practitioners who are always happy to discuss your child's development, or any concerns you may have.

Toddler Room

Our toddler room has been created to suit the needs of the children that access it. We provide a self service snack area, where children are encouraged to help themselves to a healthy snack and drink. The children are supported in this and we regularly talk about healthy foods and oral hygiene.

Lets take a look around...

Cosy area - perfect for relaxing with a good book, taking a rest or having a little sleep. Soft lighting, comfy cushions and warm blankets make this the perfect, calming area for toddlers.

Home corner -  As with the rest of our setting, we use soft lighting to create a calming environment, with real objects to allow children to act out their own personal experiences and thoughts. Children have the opportunity to dress up, or use large scarves or material to create their own outfits. Dolls and teddies allow children to develop their empathy skills and show their own emotions.

Role play kitchen - We provide our children with real foods to explore such as herbs, carrots, potatoes, pasta and rice, this allows the children to experience familiar and authentic resources in play. Our toddlers often spend a lot of time in this area, acting out home experiences, developing their language skills, taking turns and sharing.

Play-dough area - Our play-dough area is intentionally placed beside our role play kitchen as the children frequently use their play-dough creations in the kitchen. Our children will often make 'biscuits' which need to be placed in the oven, roti, pancakes and bread. This allows children to develop their creative, social, communication and imaginary skills.

Sand and water area - Low level sand and water trays are available to ensure they are easily accessible to our toddlers. We deliberately leave our trays with minimal objects to allow our children the opportunity to add what they would like. Our children often use the water tray as a babies bath, for making cups of tea or for sailing boats.
