Outdoors area

Our outdoors area is accessed daily so we advise suitable clothing is provided to ensure children don't miss out. Fresh air and exploring the great outdoors has so many benefits to children so we would always encourage children to access it for a period of time everyday.

 

During wet weather we recommend wet suits and welly's, however we will always change children's clothes if they get a little wet and would never leave them wet. During hotter, sunny months, we recommend children arrive wearing at least factor 30 sun cream and a sun hat. 

 

Let's take a look around the outdoors area...

 

Our outdoors area has a wide range of resources and large scale equipment. The children have access to balancing beams, a large scale sandpit in which they can use their gross motor skills to dig and transport sand. We also have a water wall that children can pour water through tubes, predict the tube the water might come through, fill and pour. 

We also have access to, what we call the 'Big Slide'. In this area the children can use their gross motor skills for climbing, moving their bodies in a variety of ways and of course, sliding down the slide. 

We also have a selection of bikes, trikes and ride ons for children to develop their skills and build their muscles. 

We encourage our children to get involved with planting flowers, herbs and vegetables and encourage them to care for and respect them. The children often use the herbs within the role play kitchen or when making play dough to explore new scents.

 

We have a stage area where children can dress up and use props to re-enact familiar stories, perform songs or take on roles in play. Alongside this we have a music wall which children can explore sounds and have the freedom to be really LOUD!!

The children have access to the same areas both indoors and outdoors.
